烏石漁港於西元1826年(道光六年)開始啟用,除傳統漁業功能外,深具有歷史文化意義。烏石港的名稱由來,是緣自於港內的巨大黑色礁石,它曾是宜蘭的第一大港,清嘉慶年間,吳沙率眾入墾蘭陽,在今頭城設圍,建立據點,吸引各地移民前來,位於頭城北端的烏石港,便成為宜蘭最大最重要的水路要津。當年清廷在此設有海關及砲台,以防止敵寇入侵。在其全盛時期,更有河道直達頭城慶元宮及盧宅前的十三行,各類民生物資都由此進出,當年商船雲集的盛況,也為其嬴得了『石港春帆』的美稱。

後來,1878年的一次洪水氾濫,大量泥沙的淤積,加上在1883年一艘美國大船的擱淺烏石港從此沒落,造成港口堵塞,烏石港即失去了功能,也影響了頭城的繁榮盛況,如今的烏石港只剩下三塊『烏石』在沼澤中供人憑弔。

 

港內另設有觀光魚市「烏石漁港直銷中心」及遊艇港,遊客邊嚐海鮮邊觀賞烏石港船泊的海景喔!或來體驗遊海樂趣。

烏石港離岸堤的外觀被釣客稱為「一字堤」,原先設計要阻擋海浪,增加港內水流穩定度,全長約500公尺,縣政府多年前向漁業署爭取興建釣魚平台,民國100年完成,垂釣區設有護欄、座椅、廁所等設施。

一字提距離岸邊約數百公尺,不少釣魚愛好者私下找船家接駁前往釣魚,但最近縣府突然以安全為由封閉,禁止漁船停靠與垂釣,引起不少釣客不滿,揚言要發動抗爭。

縣府表示,一字堤雖被劃為垂釣區,但漁業署尚未正式對外公告,日前海巡署反映有人登岸垂釣,同時接獲民眾檢舉堤岸遺留大量垃圾,考量民眾安全與環境整潔,協調海巡單位加強管制。

據經營接駁船業者透露,釣魚平台雖未開放,但縣府也未管制,許多釣客協調漁船接駁,每人500元,不含保險,因離岸邊不遠,考量大船吃水量問題,主要以小漁船或竹筏提供載客服務。

漁業署表示,釣魚平台附近船隻出入頻繁,必須規畫航行路線與釣客甩竿範圍,避免影響其他漁船作業,停靠船隻也需評估,並擬定接駁船管理辦法,全部完成作業後才會公告開放。
